Today marks the first day since August without any high school sports games or practice and we already miss it. To ease our pain, we started reminiscing on our favorite sports moments of the 2014-2015 seasons and we asked a few multi-sport athletes to chime in with theirs. Listed below are their responses:

Liam Flaherty, Spring Grove: A big memory is making the postseason in every single sport, but my favorite is going to districts in basketball for the first time in 16 years. That was awesome!

Jon Sager, Spring Grove: Definitely either clinching the Division-I title in baseball or winning our first district game in basketball in a long time.

Hannah Glover, South Western: Beating New Oxford (our biggest rival) in overtime on our field hockey senior night. It was also my 18th birthday that night.

Seth Janney, South Western: Beating Tyler Worthing (who was undefeated prior to that match) in the state semifinals and moving on to the finals.

Evan Raubenstine, South Western: My favorite moment of the school year was probably the postgame meeting for football after our final game. It was my first taste of the end of a varsity season for high school sports and to see and feel the emotion from everyone was unreal because you realize how much work you put in offseason and season and to see how close you get with guys is an eye opener!

Kyle Krout, Hanover: Being able to play at the Giant Center again this basketball season.

Wes Storey, Littlestown: I would have to say my favorite moment was during our football game against Delone Catholic, specifically the kick return I had. It was the best run I’ve ever had.

Nathan Sharrah, Gettysburg: My favorite fall moment would be beating Conrad Weiser with 13 seconds left and in spring, it would be setting a personal record at states.

Braxtin Reddinger, New Oxford: My favorite moment would be during lacrosse season on the sidelines of one of our home games. Ellie, Gracie, Raleigh and I always threw grapes at each other to see who could catch the most in their mouths. Always a fun time with them!

Madi Smith, New Oxford: My favorite sports moments from the seasons would have to be breaking the girls’ 200 free-relay record in swimming. Also medaling at counties, districts, and taking second at states in track and beating the school record for javelin, which is what I medaled in.

Keegan Romanoff, New Oxford: I had many favorite moments throughout my senior year, but a couple of memorable ones were when I scored a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Gettysburg, when I broke our schools’ hit and batting average record for baseball and sitting in the student section of men’s and women’s basketball games.

Kaelyn Long, New Oxford: I would have to say my favorite moment was beating Harrisburg in our preliminary district basketball game and having the best student section there that night.

Mason Flickinger, Fairfield: My favorite memory is from football. We usually practice by our school but the last practice before our last game, we didn’t. Instead we practiced behind the Fairfield Fire Hall, which is where we practiced when we started midget football. So it was cool to end it where it all started. My teammates and I started there and we got to finish there. True meaning of football.

Maddie Comly, Delone Catholic: My first-team, all-state nomination for basketball even when we didn’t make the state tournament.

Tavian Dorsey, Delone Catholic: That’s a tough one, but I’ll probably have to say going to states for Track. It was a great experience and the atmosphere was unbelievable.

Michael Rider, Delone Catholic: Wrestling at the sectional tournament where I bumped up a weight class from 195 to 220 pounds and everyone was doubting me. So my favorite moment was being ranked seventh and beating the No. 3 and No. 2 kid at sectionals to get a shot at the title. During the championship match I only lost 6-2 to Sam McCollum, who pinned everyone else in the first period. Miracles do happen and you just have to prove everyone wrong! The other one was in football when I ran 40 yards down the field against Biglerville to get a touchdown block for Jake Kadis and the fans went crazy.

Gabby Emeigh, Bermudian Springs: It’s a tie between two moments. The first being our volleyball team making it to the second round of districts and the friendships we made. And the second is medaling in all three of my throwing events at districts and the friends I made along the way.

Dustyn Lauver, Bermudian Springs: My favorite moment is the team bonding for all three sports. Also becoming so close to the team that they become your second family. It’s an amazing experience to go through, and I’m glad I got to do all three sports to become parts of a great team and family.
